Vacant post of the Seleção
Brazil’s football association CBF has denied Carlo Ancelotti’s commitment as the new coach of his national team. A corresponding report was not correct, it said in one Notice from the CBF based in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. Accordingly, what Association President Ednaldo Rodrigues said on Wednesday, when he had already rejected speculation, applies: the matter will be dealt with transparently and the selected coach will be announced in due course.
The transmitter “ESPN Brazil“ had reported that the CBF had received the verbal confirmation from the Italian Ancelotti. Details would still be discussed. The 63-year-old Real Madrid coach is said to have signed a three-year contract, starting in July 2023 and running until August 2026 after the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Ancelotti had already rejected a report of this kind in December last year and referred to his contract in the Spanish capital, which runs until 2024.
The previous Brazilian national coach Tite had signed a termination agreement in January. His early end at the post had already been determined before the quarter-finals of the record world champion at the World Cup in Qatar. CBF President Rodrigues promised a new name by early February. Ancelotti’s contract, about which there had been speculation before, with Champions League winners Real Madrid runs until June 30, 2024.
