Professional football gets its way: stadiums will soon be completely full | Dutch football

The sports stadiums, which are currently allowed to be 1/3 full, will be completely filled again in the short term. This is reported by The Hague insiders after an extra council of ministers on the corona approach† Preparations are being made for the disappearance of the 1.5 meter obligation and permanent seating in places with a corona pass.

It is still unclear whether the relaxation will take place immediately from Tuesday. Then another press conference will take place. It is also possible that the relaxation will be applied from the beginning of March, because then the current corona measures will expire. One of the relaxations is that stadiums can be completely full again, but still with a corona ticket.

For the time being, stadiums were allowed to be filled for 1/3. Not enough, according to professional football clubs, among others. They drew attention to the corona measures with #stadionsvol last weekend. “Paid football is about playing in front of an audience. Playing football in front of empty or largely empty stands is lacking in atmosphere, unnecessary and costs a lot of money. 1/3 stadium occupancy is therefore not a long-term solution,” the statement read.

Professional football has always believed that it is safe to fill stadiums completely. Also because it was demonstrated during the field labs that stadiums were not fires. “This is apparent from information from the GGD and is also logical: no one enters without checking the corona admission ticket and all visitors are in the open air. Research shows that there are hardly any infections outside. The final conclusion of all field labs studies, in which scientists and the government were also involved, was: ‘With specific conditions and measures, events even within the ‘worrying’ category could take place with a higher visitor capacity, sometimes even 100%’. ”
