Women’s four and Dörnbach get EM bronze

Maximilian Dörnbach from Cottbus won the bronze medal in the 1000 meter time trial at the European Track Cycling Championships in Grenchen in 59.778 seconds, repeating his third place from the 2022 European Championships in Munich.

The gold medal went to world champion Jeffrey Hoogland from the Netherlands (58.203), silver won the Spaniard Alejandro Martinez (59.687). Erfurt’s Marc Jurczyk finished eighth in 1:01.952 minutes.

In the women’s team pursuit, the Olympic champions Franziska Brausse, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kröger also took third place together with Laura üßmilch, who had returned from an injury. In the small final against France, the quartet turned a deficit in the last four rounds. The defending champions crossed the finish line in 4:14.402 minutes with a lead of almost 1.5 seconds.

The Federation of German Cyclists has secured a medal in the women’s sprint, in which Lea Sophie Friedrich and Pauline Grabosch reached the semifinals on Friday. Defending champion Emma Hinze from Cottbus decided not to start. “I would like to break new ground and concentrate on other disciplines,” explained the sprint world champion of 2020 and 2021.

In the men’s team pursuit, the German foursome took sixth place at the European Championships with Benjamin Boos, Tobias Buck-Gramcko, Theo Reinhardt and Leon Rohde in 3:52.069 minutes.
