Hélène Hendriks regrets that the ‘merger’ between RTL and Talpa has been cancelled. She would have liked to have a drink with the greats of the competitor. “This is a pity.”
It is very disappointing for Hélène Hendriks: she finally thought she would be at the Christmas party with big stars such as Chantal Janzen and Eva Jinek this year, but now that the merger between her Talpa and the large RTL has been cancelled, that is off the track. The consequence? She will soon be back among B-garnish such as Kees Tol, Kim-Lian van der Meij and Rob Kemps.
Drinks with Chantal
Hélène thinks it’s a disappointment. “Guys, I am really sorry. I would have really enjoyed it: a Christmas drink with Chantal, with Eva, with Carlo Boszhard. It’s off, isn’t it? The merger between RTL and Talpa is over,” she says in her talk show HLF8.
Table guest Jack van Gelder: “You can just invite them, right? That doesn’t matter, does it?”
Hélène: “Yes, I don’t think they will come to me, what do you think?”
Big blow
Let’s go to the content: what does Jack think of the failed merger? “It is a blow for RTL and for Talpa. I also think it is a blow to the Dutch TV world. People are watching less and less linear television, so really everyday television. You have to make yourself strong in the Netherlands to compete with the streaming services.”
Royalty fan Justine Marcella thinks that it is not interesting at all for the people at home. “I think the viewer has no idea. It doesn’t matter to them. Whether Chantal is here or at RTL, I think it really isn’t one of those for the viewer big news is like for people in the media.”
Good news
Raymond Mens, the American connoisseur of HLF8 and VI, is delighted. “I think it is good news for the average television viewer, because they then have two commercial stations that compete with each other. I think that is good for the average TV viewer.”
Finally, Jörgen Raymann: “I think it is also useful for advertisers, because if you have one commercial party that determines all TV, you also get the one that determines all rates.”
