Captain of the Vancouver Canucks Bo Horvat, 27, to the New York Islanders. The Canadian club gets in exchange by Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Rädyn and a conditional first-round reservation for next summer.
– Of course, I’m a little shocked. This is a sudden departure for me and my family, Horvat commented after the transfer on nhl.com.
Horvat is on pace for a 50-goal season, as he has already scored 31 goals in 49 games. The man’s contract ends this season. He was one of the hottest names at the transfer deadline, as Vancouver’s season ends with the regular season. The Islanders are still fighting fiercely for the last playoff spots, but are currently below the playoff line.
Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello said that the club will try to sign an extension with Horvat as soon as possible.
– We will do everything to make it successful, Lamoriello assures.
Beaullivier, 25, has scored 9+11=20 in 49 games this season. Instead, Rädy, 20, has 12 games and two goals. On the AHL side, the Finn has made 15 (7+8) goals in 27 matches.
