Ex-Bundesliga professional
The sporting resurgence of former Bundesliga professional Abdelhamid Sabiri could reach the next level in the summer and he could only act as a short-term loan player for his club Sampdoria from now on. According to the editors of the transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio AC Florence is putting pressure on for an immediate purchase, but the assessment of the 26-year-old Moroccan with a German passport is probably well below what the Genoese imagine. They are still exploring whether they could even quadruple the transfer fee paid in 2022 next summer.
Fiorentina would like an immediate transfer, according to the Italian reporter, but would loan variable midfielder Sabiri back to the Genoa club, who are in serious danger of relegation, for the remainder of the season. They say they would be willing to pay 2 million euros for it. That would actually be double what la Samp paid to second division club Ascoli last summer, but still only half of the current market value of the World Cup participant – and the league rivals insist on that. The Blucerchiati would have 4 million euros in mind. Further talks are expected on Monday, the penultimate day of the current transfer window.
Sabiri grew up in Frankfurt and was trained in the youth of TuS Koblenz and Darmstadt 98. The former DFB junior landed at 1. FC Nürnberg in 2016 via Sportfreunde Siegen and qualified in Central Franconia for his first transfer of millions to Huddersfield in the Premier League. After seven appearances for the “Terriers”, Sabiri returned to Germany for the then Bundesliga club SC Paderborn, but moved on to Ascoli in Serie B a season later. The move to Sampdoria saw him return to the first division. Rumor has it that in addition to Florence and German clubs, Lazio and Atalanta Bergamo, potential European Cup participants, are also interested. Sabiri’s contract in Genoa is valid until 2025.
