Kansas City Chiefs probably with superstar Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is ready to fight for a place in the Super Bowl.

“I think he’ll be able to play. He’s moving really well,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said at a news conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Cincinnati Bengals. Mahomes injured his ankle in Saturday’s 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars when an opponent fell on his leg. The 27-year-old continued playing, initially visibly battered, and was then substituted before eventually returning to the field. In the final quarter, Mahomes threw the decisive touchdown pass.

“I’m feeling better than I expected,” Mahomes said at a news conference on Thursday. Mahomes cannot yet say whether the Chiefs leader will be completely unrestricted. “We’ll see that during the game. You can’t exactly simulate moments of a game in training. The only thing I can do is prepare as best as possible. And when the game is on, you hope that the adrenaline takes over and you can throw the passes that are needed.”

The Chiefs are in the NFL playoff semifinals for the fifth straight season. In 2019, the team won the title with Mahomes. In the finals, the Chiefs would face the Philadelphia Eagles or San Francisco 49ers.
