As expected, Hamburger SV has found reinforcements for the storm center in András Németh (20). The attacker comes from the Belgian first division club KRC Genk and has signed a contract until 2026, as the Hamburgers announced. According to reports, a transfer fee of between 750,000 and one million euros is due for the offensive talent, making Németh one way or another the most expensive transfer to date in the current changeover period in the 2nd Bundesliga.

“András is a modern centre-forward who, in addition to his finishing quality, is also characterized by his understanding of the game. We looked at him back in the summer and see him as a player with multifaceted potential for development. In the talks it was impressive to see how intensively he had dealt with HSV and our game idea,” said sporting director Jonas Boldt. Németh said: “I like the way HSV plays – with up-and-coming players and dominant attacking football. That, together with the good conversations I had with the coach, absolutely convinced me. I want to be a part of it and I can’t wait to meet the fans in this incredible stadium.”
At HSV, Németh is said to be “a highly assessed safeguard” for top scorer Robert Glatzel, the “Kicker” recently wrote. In addition to Glatzel and Németh, coach Tim Walter can also fall back on homegrown Tom Sanne in the center of the attack. After defenders Javi Montero and Noah Katterbach (both came on loan), Németh is now the third winter signing for the “Rothosen”.
In Genk, Németh had refused an extension of his expiring working papers in the winter, after which the club removed him from the professional squad, so that a change had already become apparent in the past few weeks. The striker has made 21 appearances in the first team in total, in which he contributed to five goals.
