The Amsterdam District Court will decide in two weeks whether to hand over the fifth suspect

The International Legal Aid Chamber (IRK) of the court in Amsterdam will decide on January 19 about the surrender of the 22-year-old Dutchman.

In the investigation, four suspects are already in prison in our country, after the Netherlands handed them over at the end of last year. On Saturday, September 24, it became known that Van Quickenborne’s home in Kortrijk had been placed under increased security by the National Crisis Center due to a possible threat. The exact nature was not communicated, but there would have been plans to kidnap the minister of justice. A weapon, straps and bottles of petrol were found in an abandoned car. Van Quickenborne and his family were taken to a safe house.

Three suspects were arrested in The Hague and Leidschendam in the night of 23 to 24 September. A fourth was arrested in The Hague a day later. The suspects were handed over to Belgium and have been in pre-trial detention ever since. At the end of September, Van Quickenborne and his family were able to leave the safe house, but since December 6 they have had to go into hiding again.
