A whole range of young companies are offering interested parties add-ons to expand the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck – for example, the announced vehicle should be able to be converted into a boat. The company Space Campers has now announced that it has developed a camper module for the Cybertruck. It has been available for reservation since mid-December and is available starting at US$24,000.
The add-on should be one thing above all: uncomplicated and comfortable
The add-on should be able to be easily mounted on the loading area of the Cybertruck using a built-in mechanism, without converting the vehicle itself or sacrificing loading area. The basic model includes an adjustable bed measuring 1.50 mx 1.80 m and if you fold up the cover of the add-on, there is around 2.4 m of airspace – so you can even stand. Alternatively, you can leave the ceiling closed to make the camper less noticeable. The individual modules of the camper can be used in different ways, so that, for example, a table can be made from the storage area for the 10 cm thick foam mattress. In addition, according to Space Campers, the camper is connected to the Cybertruck’s battery, which also means that a reading lamp and other electrical features come into their own. It remains unclear when the camper module will actually come
The reservation of the camper module is done online on the Space Campers website. Depending on the reservation fee, interested parties receive different assurances. While only one set is reserved for $100 (the fee can be refunded at any time), the $1,000 reservation package offers additional benefits such as a permanent 10 percent discount on all expansions. The $5,000 and $10,000 packages also include a perk of the add-on itself.
The information portal electrek sees potential in the camper module. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen when it can be delivered to interested parties – after all, not even the Cybertruck itself has gone into production.
