Am I liable to prosecution if I “clear away” demonstrators?

Anyone who, as a private individual, carries or pulls a demonstrator or other blocker off the street must expect to be reported.

According to a police spokeswoman, this task is reserved exclusively for police forces: “With all due respect for the annoyance of drivers, it is not legitimate to lend a hand yourself.”

The extent to which drivers are liable to prosecution for such actions depends on the individual case. If simple physical violence is used, including pulling or pushing off the road, there is a risk of criminal charges for bodily harm.

Depending on how heatedly the procedure is, facts such as coercion, threats and insults can also be added.
