Report: Clubless Carlos Tevez ahead of MLS transfer to DC United

No designated player

“I stopped playing seven months ago. (…) It’s the end of January, I’ll be 38 next week. It will be very difficult for me,” Ecuadorian media quoted Carlos Tevez as saying last week when asked about his sporting future. A report by the portal “The AthleticAccording to the former professional of Man United, Man City and Juventus, among others, could now have found a port of call in the US Major League Soccer. Accordingly, the advisory team of the 76-time Argentinian international is currently negotiating with DC United about a timely change.

The Argentinian TV station “TyC Sports” initially reported on DC United’s courtship of Tevez. Orlando City and Minnesotta United are said to have expressed interest in the striker’s services, whose highest market value was once estimated at 40 million euros.

“The Athletic” reported, citing its own sources close to the players, that initial talks with DC had already taken place. The chance of an agreement being reached in the near future is largely dependent on the financial demands of the legal practitioner and is “25 percent” at this point in time.

Tevez has netted €97.3m in transfer earnings during his career, which has included seven clubs in total.

DC United lost two offensive players in the winter, Kevin Paredes (18; transfer fee of EUR 6.7m) and Paul Arriola (26; transfer fee of EUR 1.8m to FC Dallas), who had been sold to Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.
