Jack van Gelder is again criticized by Marcel van Roosmalen. The columnist scolds him for a ‘very big meatball from which all sorts of things crawl out’. “If you’re going to cut into that… Damn!”
He has since become a regular guest in the talk show HLF8: Jack van Gelder, always good for a salty, somewhat conservative opinion. Anyone who does not like to see him on the tube is opinion maker Marcel van Roosmalen. Jack is immensely disturbed by Marcel’s persistent criticism: “I think it’s a bit sad.”
Large meatball
Marcel is not deterred by Jack’s words and gets in the New Year’s Eve special from Media Inside out to him again. When it comes to HLF8 at a certain point, Britt Dekker says that nowadays it is a kind of Today Inside, but without the men of Today Inside.
Britt: “It works in VI, because you want to know what Johan Derksen thinks of the slavery apology.”
Marcel: “Yes, but you don’t want to know what Jack van Gelder thinks. You really don’t want to know. Then you sit and cut into a very large meatball and everything you don’t want crawls out.”
Dollop of mayonnaise
The opinion of the VI trio can easily digest Marcel, he continues. “At VI you know: these are the snacks, we eat this and there is a dollop of mayonnaise on the table, but if you are going to cut into Jack van Gelder… Gadverdamme! And then that Teeven, that bus driver. And all the time Jan Slagter. You don’t want any of that.”
Britt: “I’ve also been there a few times and you can just ask Jan anything and he keeps talking.”
Marcel: “That’s the danger. So he starts talking like crazy.”
“That has to be there!”
Britt has also been a guest in HLF8 since the format change. “So that has to be there (keep talking, ed.), because you are put there and you have to give opinions. I find that very difficult, because no one is waiting for my opinion…”
Fellow guest Emma Wortelboer: “Well…”
Britt: “About Ukraine, about…”
Emma: “Oh, no… That’s right.”
