The English champions Manchester City have had to accept a setback in the fight to successfully defend their title. Although the Norwegian international Erling Haaland gave the “Citizens” the lead in the 24th minute, the guests managed to equalize through Demarai Gray (64th). The 26-year-old was successful with his team’s first and only shot of the whole game and scored from the edge of the penalty area, which is a sight to behold.
Manchester are starting the new football year in second place, but leaders Arsenal could extend their current four-point lead on New Year’s Eve. The Londoners take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening (6.30 p.m.).
