Last summer we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Barcelona Games and of the Seville Expo of 1992. We were able to remember the 92 of 92. That was a year we will hardly forget. And from which the youngest keep our reference. Sometimes excessively. Since 2008, we have been chaining more than a decade of ‘annus horribilis’. First was the financial hangover of the mortgage binge, later austericide within the EU and finally an institutional crisis in Catalonia and Spain that still resonates. When we raised our heads a little we got covid-19.
Some say that the newspapers write the first draft of the events that will end up in the history manuals. Y we do it, more than ever, hand in hand with our readers and users. That is why we have built this special balance issue of 2022 from the conversation we have had with our closest nucleus, the subscribers and registered users. And we have valued these issues together with what our journalists have published and what the sporadic public has read.
The summary is a nightmare that ends and another that begins. The coronavirus, which throughout 2022 has gone from a pandemic to another variant of the flu, and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine that has left Europe at war and has revolutionized energy geopolitics. We would like to stop talking about both topics during 2023, not because of any type of censorship but because they are overcome and stop being interesting. We have also talked about Queen Elizabeth II and of some characters of the heart that feed our own tragedies or our aspirations, like the rest of journalism. And we have done it in new multimedia formats.

We have not put aside our most editorial bets, we have fulfilled our commitment to make 8-M the whole year, focused on the drama of gender violence and the rebound effect among the youngest and we have explained and discussed how the inflation virus increases the number of vulnerable people. And all in full mental health pandemic. We have closely followed an atypical World Cup and we have accompanied a some recovery of the cultural pulse.

Our community has also shown special interest in some emerging issues such as the polls on the 2023 elections (general and municipal) and, especially, with everything related to Barcelona (housing and mobility) and with the new companies. sure that we are going to follow them in that proposal.
