On HJARTASTJAK, the eight epic, atmospheric tracks form an arctic fortress of connected solitude, in which the fireplace crackles to the eclectic vinyl collection while the projector projects Robert Eggers’ horror film “The Lighthouse” onto the crumbling white, historic wall plaster.
And while Tryggvason and Zolberg’s shared singing is in the Icelandic idiom – aside from the English “Fjord Of Hope” – even a non-speaker can appreciate the emotionally profound narratives, which are like creaking cracks on ice always reveal the abysses that open up underneath, empathize fairly well.
