Top favorite Michael van Gerwen confidently reached the round of 16 at the Darts World Cup in London.
“Mighty Mike”, as the Dutchman is known, defeated the Austrian Mensur Suljovic 4:2 after an outstanding performance and is now in the round of 16.
In what was the best game of the tournament so far, Suljovic also put in a top performance with an outstanding rate on doubles, but that wasn’t enough.
In the previous year, the three-time world champion had to give up early because of a positive corona test.
In the round of 16 on Friday evening, van Gerwen will face the winner of the game between his compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode and European champion Ross Smith (England). Both will play against each other on Thursday (1:45 p.m./Sport1 and DAZN).
