Successful first pass

“What is everyday life like as a professor?” – “Should I really start a doctorate, even if my children are still small?” – “How can I appear confidently in front of a large audience?” – with questions like these were the beginning of 2022 in total seven women started the Prof:Me mentoring program.

They hoped to get answers from their mentors, most of whom were experienced professors at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences. “The feedback we have received from the participants is consistently positive,” says Dr. Daphne rhyme. The full-time Equal Opportunities Officer at TH Lübeck organized the program together with her colleague Joanna Kjer and is currently in the middle of preparing for the next round.

“So far we have nine participants who have registered for the next round,” says Reim. “The growing interest shows us that we are addressing the right topics with this program.”

The Prof:Me mentoring program is part of the women professors program that was developed by the federal and state governments to increase the proportion of women in top scientific positions at German universities. “In this respect, our offer is of course aimed primarily at women who are interested in a career in science,” explains Reim. “But we are also happy to advise or support women who have questions about their professional development beyond this clear objective.”
