Help for international students in need

“I would like to thank you very much for this donation,” says Abke, “Our students are very important to us and international students in particular often have a harder time finding part-time jobs. The TH Lübeck has been intensively involved in international exchange programs and supports refugees for years. 671 students from 76 countries are currently enrolled. Syrian students have been the largest group since the Syrian war.
“The money will be used for international students who got into financial difficulties shortly before graduating,” explains Diehl. Only students who are enrolled at TH Lübeck and whose degree is expected to be completed within 12 months are supported. Affected students can contact incomings(at)th-luebeck.de turn.

Support from Volksbank

Most of the money comes from the profit savings savings of the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken in northern Germany. In addition to TH Lübeck, eight other clubs and organizations each received €5,000. “Without these clubs and without the voluntary commitment of many great people, our society would not be where it is. Social life would even come to a standstill in many areas,” emphasizes Bernhard Rogge, member of the board of Volksbank Lübeck. “We are very happy to make a contribution to support this commitment”.

The award was presented by the Management Board in the HanseLab, the bank’s innovation rooms. Christian Mehrens, Chief Sales Officer of the bank. “Here community and team spirit can be experienced in a special way. For us, the right setting to say THANK YOU to all committed donation recipients for their commitment”.
