Good news for skating enthusiasts. It looks like skating can be done this week on landscaped lanes and flooded meadows. “We are getting a few really cold nights in Brabant,” says Raymond Klaassen of Weerplaza.
The night from Sunday to Monday was also very cold. “Moderate frost has been recorded, with minima of -5 and -6 degrees,” Raymond told the radio program ‘WAKE!’ on Omroep Brabant. ‘At the ground it even became -9 here and there. That was good for the ice rinks, the ice has been able to grow considerably because there was not too much wind.”
“Maybe you can skate on a shallow ditch.”
According to Raymond, it will not get hot during the day on Monday either. “I think a maximum of zero degrees or one degree. The sun is shining brightly and there is not too much wind. It is blowing weakly from the south.”
In the night to Tuesday it will freeze again. “I think the temperature will then be between -5 and -8 degrees. Tuesday during the day it will barely be zero degrees, very favorable for ice growth. The nights after that will also remain cold, with maxima around -4 and -6 degrees.”
Really crystal clear winter weather. “It remains dry and there are considerable sunny periods during the day. It will be quite a nice winter week. Perhaps the second half of this week will also allow skating on a shallow ditch here and there.”
“It all has to happen this week.”
“It is true that it all has to happen this week,” emphasizes the Weerplaza weatherman. “Next week we look like we’re moving into some softer air.”
