Taylor Swift’s wax figure in Dubai: fans feel uneasy

Madame Tussauds in Dubai unveiled a wax figure of Taylor Swift on Tuesday (December 6). The figurine is made by hand and wears a sequined red sweater and khaki trousers. According to Time Out Dubai, she is the first international figure in the museum since it opened in 2021.

The reactions of Taylor’s fans are mixed: Many are unsure whether the wax statue really looks like its role model. On Twitter, fans are trying to figure out what’s weird about the character, but can’t pinpoint it. Some see the eyes as a problem, describing them as “weird and lifeless.” Others blame the outfit.

One user tweeted about the statue: “Why is it so hard to make Taylor’s wax figures look like her? I mean, this one doesn’t look bad compared to the others, but still.” Another account simply comments on the new Taylor figure “Glow Up” and posts a collage of the previous wax figures.

Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, Midnights, in October 2022. With her tour announcement, the singer paralyzed Ticketmaster. The platform therefore even canceled advance bookings for the tour.
