Franz Beckenbauer tells the German entertainment magazine Bunte that he suffers from glaucoma, i.e. eye pressure disease.
The disease has deprived the football legend of sight in one eye.
– Unfortunately, I can’t see anything with my right (eye). I can live with that. I also have to be careful with my heart, Beckenbauer, 77, says.

Health concerns mean that the man who led Germany to the World Cup as a player and coach will not be able to watch the World Cup in Qatar on site.
– I will keep my fingers crossed for our team in front of the TV, he promises.
Beckenbauer hardly watched with satisfaction when Germany’s World Cup sky began in a rough way with a 1-2 loss to Japan. The defeat is the second in a row for Germany in the opening of the World Cup, since four years ago Joachim Löwin the team under coaching lost in the first game to Mexico Hirving Lozano with a goal of 0–1.
