With his 50 and 51 goals in France’s national football shirt, striker Olivier Giroud has caught up with record holder Thierry Henry.
The striker scored twice in the 4-1 (2-1) win over Australia in France’s first game at the World Cup in Qatar (32nd, 71st) and even has a better average than Henry. The 1998 world champion needed 123 caps, Giroud 115.
In addition to Giroud, Adrien Rabiot (27th) and superstar Kylian Mbappeé (68th) were successful in Al-Wakrah on Tuesday evening.
World champions France took the lead in Group D with a deserved win.
