Christian Rasmussen is the top scorer at Jong Ajax this season. The 19-year-old Danish attacker has already scored eight goals in the first division this season. That puts him on the radar for the first team. “They don’t have that many attackers with a good left leg there,” says Rasmussen.
Three years ago, Ajax plucked him from FC Nordsjælland. In the meantime he can no longer be ignored from the U21 team and he has completely found his place. His Dutch is now in order and lives on the Zuidas in Amsterdam. Due to his good performance, the first team is now also in the picture. “I’m training with the first and if I keep playing like this, I hope I get the chance.”

On the radar
For Rasmussen it is a good learning experience to train with the first team of Ajax. “Many players with experience play at Ajax 1, so it’s nice to be part of that,” Rasmussen said against Young AZ (1-1) scored a nice opening goal.
Chance of playing time in the first is currently not that great for Rasmussen. With an eye to the future, he could well be the diamond in the rough that the Amsterdammers need. Only Mohammed Kudus and Steven Berghuis have a good left leg and a dribble inside. That looks good for Rasmussen for the coming years. “That’s right,” concludes Rasmussen.
“You can want as much as you want, but in the end I also have my ambitions and personal agenda”
Important role Heitinga
Rasmussen recently indicated that John Heitinga played an important role in his development at Ajax. The trainer of Jong Ajax extended his contract this week until mid-2025. That expresses a lot of confidence from the club. “I am still full in my development. I feel that I can grow even further as a trainer here,” says Heitinga, who is linked as a possible successor to Alfred Schreuder at the first. “You can want as much as you want, but in the end I also have my ambitions and personal agenda. But I now only focus on Young Ajax.”
