Nadal and Ruud faced each other in the Green Group on the 5th day of the men’s end-of-season tournament held at Alpitour Sports Hall in Turin, Italy.
Having lost his semi-final chance before, Nadal defeated Ruud, the 3rd seeded racket of the tournament, 2-0 with 7-5 sets in the fight that lasted for 1 hour and 42 minutes. The Spanish athlete, who got his first win in the finals, also ended the 4-game losing streak.
Ruud, who won his first two games in the group, was guaranteed to reach the semi-finals. The second semi-finalist in the Green Group will be determined after the Felix Auger Aliassime-Taylor Fritz match.
