The district derby between FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund will take place on Saturday evening (March 11, 6:30 p.m.). The DFL announced this on Tuesday (November 15, 2022) when scheduling matchdays 20 to 25. Other games on other match days on Saturday evening are VfB Stuttgart against leaders FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund against 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt against Werder Bremen.
The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 have been on a long World Cup break since Sunday. It won’t continue until next year. From February, the seven Bundesliga clubs still represented in the European Cup must also be taken into account.
Because SC Freiburg, 1. FC Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen are still playing in the Europa League, three Sunday games (3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.) are scheduled for three match days. In these cases, there are only four Bundesliga games on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
