The sporting goods manufacturer Puma SE and the US retail chain Foot Locker Inc. are strengthening their long-standing cooperation. With special initiatives, the two partners want to target the Gen Z and Gen Alpha age groups in the future. The focus is on Puma’s basketball products and collaborations with brands and creative people who are particularly popular with younger customers, the companies said in a joint statement on Monday.
Specifically, both companies want to expand their cooperation in the basketball category, which gives Foot Locker, among other things, exclusive access to products from the Puma line LaMelo Ball Signature. In addition, the sporting goods retailer will be the exclusive distribution partner of the Puma x Pokémon and Puma x Paw Patrol collaborations in North America. Joint product lines are also planned with basketball player Mikey Williams, social media personality Dixie D’Amelio, rapper Cordae and children’s song channel CoComelon. Both companies also announced that they would continue to work together on marketing campaigns and social projects.
Puma’s head of North America, Bob Philion, praised the partnership with Foot Locker. The “long-term relationship” has been instrumental in enabling Puma to “drive innovation and push boundaries in sports, fashion and technology,” he said in a statement. “Now, our deepened partnership not only gives us further opportunities for collaboration and growth, but also allows us to offer even stronger experiences and greater inclusivity to our evolving global clientele,” said Philion.
