with videoKevin Magnussen will never forget the day he got to start a Formula 1 race up front. His start was good, then he simply lacked speed. The Dane finished eighth.
For the first time in his career, Magnussen was allowed to start at the front in the Brazilian sprint. The 30-year-old Dane had a good start in his Haas and initially managed to stay ahead of Max Verstappen, but a little later there was no stopping it. The cars of Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari and also Lando Norris passed by. End result of an unforgettable day: one World Cup point. ,,It was a great experience to start here on pole. I got through the first lap, then the rest was just too fast. Nevertheless, it was a good day,” Magnussen told Viaplay.
,,It’s one point, that’s a positive result for us,’ Magnussen continues. The Haas team competes with AlphaTauri for eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship and the difference becomes two World Cup points. “We are not there yet, but we can certainly use this.”
Magnussen did not go further than P8, but team boss Günther Steiner was proud of his driver anyway. ,,Our goal was to finish in the points. That eventually became one, but that was the best we could do against the big boys,” said the Italian American. Magnussen will start eighth tomorrow at the main event with Mick Schumacher in the other Haas in twelfth place. is that both drivers will leave Brazil with a few extra points in their pockets?
