Korfball coach Bakker looks ahead to the new season: “Going to bring more in the play-offs”

The selection of KZ went through a major overhaul this summer, but full of ambition the korfball players start the news hall competition on Sunday. With Blauw-Wit as opponent, a North Holland derby is immediately on the program.

In the past two seasons, the Zaankanters reached the play-offs of the Korfbal League. This season Bakker wants to go a step further. “This year we are not satisfied with reaching the play-offs. In the past two seasons we lost without a chance against Fortuna Delft. We want to bring more games in the play-offs and be competitive to our opponent”, Tim Bakker is clear. .

Start competition

Last weekend Blauw-Wit and KZ already faced each other. On the final day of the Theo Korporaal Spectacle, KZ won 22-19. “We have not shown everything we have in store. You keep the cards on your chest a bit. Both teams already know each other quite well. We did not want to make the opponent any wiser than they already are.”

“The team has taken steps forward with their return”

If you look at Bakker’s selection, you will see that a lot has changed compared to last season. Emiel de Kruijff left for Fortuna Delft. Stef Meijns stopped at the highest level and Sanne Pasma stopped immediately, because she did not agree with coach Bakker’s plans.

Marijn van den Goorbergh came over as reinforcement from PKC. In addition, the team sees Lars Hoorn and Alwin Out coming back from long-term injuries. “Last year Hoorn and Out played almost no games. We now have them back and you notice that immediately. These players really leave their mark. The team has made steps forward by their return.”
