SpVgg Greuther Fürth also wins against Hamburger SV

Status: 10.11.2022 00:00

SpVgg Greuther Fürth got their third win in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga against the hopeful Hamburger SV. Meanwhile, HSV missed the leap to the top of the table.

The golden goal on Wednesday evening (November 9th, 2022) at 1-0 (1-0) was scored by Armindo Sieb (8th minute). For Fürth it was the third 1-0 win in a row in the third game under new head coach Alexander Zorniger. The late dismissal of Timothy Tillmann (87th) for gross foul play did not change that.

Hamburger SV, on the other hand, failed again in the promotion race after two wins and missed their chance to jump to the top of the table.

HSV coach Walter served, Angry elated

HSV coach Tim Walter commented on the Sportschau microphone as follows: “It was a deserved defeat, we were just bad. We didn’t manage it at any stage of the game. And we surrendered on the pitch at times.”

His counterpart, Fürth coach Zorniger, explained the winning streak as follows: “The team is extremely homogenous, willing, works well against the ball and always switches really well. The crowd also supports difficult situations, that pushes the squad.”

Sieb meets early for stormy Fürth

HSV had enormous problems with the high pressure from Fürth at the beginning, came under pressure and fell behind early on. Sieb, the Franks’ winning goalscorer in Braunschweig, scored after a cross from Ragnar Ache on the right.

Hamburg got the opportunity to reply, but Sonny Kittel failed from a tight angle at Fürth goalkeeper Andreas Linde (18th). A goal by Robert Glatzel, scored by the increasingly strong guests, was ruled out for offside (25′).

Hamburg without a clear chance to score

The North Germans kept the pressure on, but in front of 13,266 fans in the stadium, they didn’t initially have any great chances to score.

Sieb could have increased after the break, but HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandez was there twice (55th/63rd). Hamburg made an effort, but lacked precision. Fürth was hardly in trouble, not even after the red card.
