World Cup 2022: Germany squad of TM users with Moukoko instead of a jug

Flick nominated on Thursday

On Thursday, Hansi Flick will announce his final 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar. In the past few weeks, Transfermarkt users have been able to play the role of national coach themselves and use the squad tool to set up their own squad for the German national team and all the other 31 participants. The evaluation showed, among other things, that the community would do without Niclas Füllkrug in the storm.

Only 36.3 percent of the approximately 33,000 participating users called the Werder Bremen striker into their own squad. With ten goals in 13 games, Füllkrug is currently the best German attacker in the Bundesliga ahead of Jamal Musiala (19; nine goals), Serge Gnabry (27; seven goals) and Youssoufa Moukoko (17; six goals). While the Bayern duo is expected to be there, the BVB youngster should also go to Qatar, according to the users. With 39.1 percent, Moukoko just barely secures last place among the 14 professionals who are assigned to midfield and attack and is the only real center forward.

In addition to Musiala and Gnabry, the record champions from Munich have five other players and thus the largest block of all teams. There was hardly any doubt about the nominations of Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller: All seven Bayern professionals were selected by over 90 percent.

Meanwhile, with 97.2 percent, most of the votes were won by a player who is not active in the Bundesliga: Antonio Rüdiger. The 29-year-old from Real Madrid is likely to be in Flick’s central defense and also enjoys a good reputation in the TM community. Besides Rüdiger, the most votes on the defensive went to Niklas Süle (92.5 percent), Nico Schlotterbeck (89.9) and David Raum (80.7) – a possible combination for the back four in Qatar.
