New campaign warns of fire on agricultural and horticultural businesses
The campaign is based on the governor, the Fluvia fire department and the agricultural prevention service Preventagri. Agricultural and horticultural companies are the most susceptible to fires, according to the study ‘industrial fires in West Flanders.
Most fire sensitive
The study on industrial fires shows that overheating, technical defects, welding and cutting work and a short circuit are the most common causes. Agriculture and horticulture are the most susceptible to fires: in 2018 a fifth of industrial fires were still in this sector, two years later that was already a quarter. Livestock and pig farms in particular were the setting for a fire. (read more below the photo)
The figures from the study now lead to the prevention campaign around the prevention of fire at your company. A folder has been made with tips to prevent fires, which is now distributed among farmers and horticulturists.
