After almost four years
FC Hansa Rostock has parted ways with coach Jens Härtel after almost four years. The 53-year-old took over the club in January 2019 and celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2021. In the current season, Hansa is twelfth in the table after the 15th match day, but is only two points behind relegation place 17. The bad record in the Ostseestadion at home is particularly responsible for the fact that the Mecklenburgers have got into relegation problems. On Friday they lost 1-0 to SV Sandhausen and suffered their fifth home defeat of the season.
“The separation from Jens is anything but easy for us because we value him both professionally and personally and the club owes him a lot – above all the promotion and the league. We have had many discussions over the past few weeks and have come to the conclusion that after almost four years together, which were extremely intensive, we have now reached a point where it is time for changes and new impetus. We thank Jens for his great commitment, the good cooperation and his services to FC Hansa, which will not be forgotten. We wish him all the best, both professionally and privately,” said sporting director Martin Pieckenhagen.
Haertel was ranked 2nd: The second division coaches by tenure
Haertel, who scored an average of 1.58 points during his tenure, had his say in the report and added: “I will have fond memories of the almost four years that I was allowed to be head coach of this club – especially the successes that we were able to achieve together during this time. I am grateful for the experience I have gained and for the always open and honest exchange with those responsible at the club. I wish FC Hansa, the employees, sponsors and fans all the best and of course that the team achieve their goals for the season.”
