Arjen Lubach gets a big slap on the fingers of Angela de Jong, because he already went on Christmas vacation on Thursday. He won’t be back until January 23. “What a lazy millennial!”
Arjen Lubach’s daily program is one of Angela de Jong’s TV favorites. She likes to watch it every night, so it has become a sort of habit. “If something is on TV every night, you tend to take it for granted,” she explains in her infamous AD column.
“Lazy millennials!”
At a certain point you ‘just start to find’ that good content from Arjen and his editors, she continues. “But of course it’s not that simple. Certainly not on Dutch TV.”
How unfortunate it is that Arjen now needs a holiday again, Angela complains. “Millennials, they are so tired after nine weeks of work that they need to take another nine weeks of vacation.”
Is Angela calling this VPRO megaster a lazy millennial? “Just kidding, of course, I let my inner Johan Derksen run free here.”
‘Bad’
From a professional perspective, Angela understands Arjen’s decision. “I do understand that it takes a lot of energy and dedication to make a daily program of such a high level. Better quality than quantity.”
But, she says: “You can rest assured that I’m disappointed. Even if it is a lesser episode – let’s be honest, they are also among them – The Evening Show is still a highlight in the daily talk and opinion circus.”
