Climate activists threw soup against Vincent van Gogh’s painting The Sower in Rome on Friday, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
The painting hangs in the Palazzo Bonaparte museum. The activists had also glued themselves to the wall and shouted slogans. Security has cleared the room, according to Italian media.
The painting was not damaged by the vegetable soup, according to ANSA, because it is protected by glass. Ultima Generazione (Last Generation) is said to be behind the action. According to ANSA, activists from this group previously glued themselves to an artwork by Sandro Botticelli. the sower is on loan to the Palazza Bonaparta by the Kröller-Müller Museum from Otterlo.
