Scenes about the accidental death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) are currently being filmed for the Netflix series “The Crown” about the British royal family. Photos show Diana’s car ride being recreated just before the accident in Barcelona and Paris, in which paparazzi followed her and boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed (Khalid Abdalla). That also causes criticism.

The series makers had previously emphasized that Diana’s death itself should not be shown. Judging by the photos, the series is very close to the events. The scenes in Paris were shot just 100 meters from the original scene of the accident. “Netflix has made it clear that Season 6 of ‘The Crown’ will cover the moments before and after the Paris tunnel accident, but not the event itself,” a source from the series team told the Daily Mail.

There is criticism from former acquaintances of the princess. “It’s obviously horrible for Diana’s children to have to see that again. It’s insensitive,” says Diana’s astrologer Debbie Frank. “I think the creators of The Crown feel they have the right to shoot those scenes. that led to her death. That it has a dramatic effect. But Diana’s relatives would see it differently.”

The ex-wife of today’s King Charles III. died in a car accident in the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris in 1997 at the age of 36. Her friend Al-Fayed and driver Henri Paul were also killed. Only her bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, survived. The driver was drunk, but the car had previously been followed by paparazzi on motorcycles.
