Sainz has shown he can be “competitive” at the United States Grand Prix Circuit of the Americas
The Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) acknowledged that his performance this Friday in free practice for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix helped him gain “confidence” for the rest of the weekend, having shown that he can be “competitive” at the Circuit de las Americas.
The man from Madrid was the fastest in the first session and fourth in the second, in which, however, he set the fastest time with the Pirelli prototypes for 2023.
“We were relatively competitive and we are confident for the rest of the weekend,” he said in remarks collected by the website motorsport.nextgen-auto.com.
For sainzit was “a different Friday in Austin” since in the first session he managed to “complete the schedule” planned, but in the second it was marked by the Pirelli test.
“That means that Free Practice 3 will be even more important than usual before qualifying,” he said of the session that will open on Saturday at the Austin track.
