Turbine Potsdam is still waiting for the first win of the season in the women’s Bundesliga and remains at the bottom of the table. The women from Potsdam showed a disappointing performance and lost 2-0 (0-0) at newly promoted SV Meppen on Friday evening (October 21, 2022).
The team coached by Sebastian Middeke, who was still the coach in Meppen until the summer, has only collected one point after five games for the goal of staying up for the season. Lisa Josten scored both goals for Meppen (51st and 76th minute) in front of 1091 spectators.
Keeper Fischer with brilliant parades
After a splendid performance by reserve goalkeeper Jil Frehse in her starting XI debut against Wolfsburg, Middeke relied on the recently suspended Vanessa Fischer. The 24-year-old, Turbine’s longest-serving player, repaid the trust with several strong saves.
However, the high pressure from the Potsdam team was not effective enough, even though the team won the first corner after just a few seconds. Again and again, Meppen created good chances with balls behind the defensive line – often favored by individual mistakes at Turbine.
Cheering with opera arias
There was something special from the ranks: More often one heard cheering by opera arias. Shortly after the break, Meppen’s Lydia Andrade asserted himself strongly on the wing. No one at Turbine reached her pass in the five-meter area. Josten shot in for the deserved lead. In the final quarter of an hour, a tee slipped through the ranks of the Brandenburg women. The 29-year-old Josten didn’t miss this opportunity either.
