The orca that washed ashore twice last weekend on the beach of Cadzand, just across the border in the Netherlands, and subsequently died, was seriously ill and weakened. This is according to research by Utrecht University. Several of the animal’s organs were inflamed, reports the university, which examined the orca. The animal also suffered from serious gum disease and hadn’t eaten anything for days.
