Euroleague: Thriller sealed FC Bayern’s horror start

Bayern Munich’s basketball team lost their fourth game in the EuroLeague, giving up a possible home win.

Bayern lost 81:83 (43:37) in a dramatic duel against the Italian champions Emporio Armani Milan and the German national player Johannes Voigtmann, despite a 14-point lead in the meantime.

“In the meantime we have shown what we can do. It was bitter, but still good,” said Bayern forward Paul Zipser (13 points), who is slowly finding his old form again after his severe brain surgery, at MagentaSport: “It will be getting better and better for me.”

A three-pointer from Milan’s US guard Billy Baron with 21.3 seconds left gave the visitors an 82-81 lead. Baron committed a foul three seconds before the siren and sent Nick Weiler-Babb to the free-throw line twice – but the German third-placed in the European Championships missed twice.

Against Milan, who lost 3-2 to Bayern in a dramatic quarter-final play-off in the 2020/21 season, Bayern still led by nine points in the third quarter, but let the Italians come back and with a 17: 5 run in the meantime pass. In the final round, Bayern fought back the lead.

Best pitcher for Bayern, who are visiting Red Star Belgrade next Friday, was Cassius Winston with 20 points.
