The Order of St Michael and St George was created by the English court in 1818 and today rewards people who have distinguished themselves in their field at home and abroad. In two novels by Ian Fleming, which later became films – A 007, from Russia with love, of 1963, and Agent 007 – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, 1969 – it appears that Bond had it received for his commitment to the queen and her country.
