Former CEO of Waregem Koerse passed away

Joseph Van den Broecke lived next to the Waregem hippodrome. His life was also entwined with it. He has been involved in the development of the infrastructure since the 1980s. But he was also one of the driving forces of both Waregem Koerse and the trotting on the track. For years he was one of the leading figures in the organization of Waregem Koerse, as director general. He was also a board member of the Ren- en Rijvereniging and also chairman of the Felix Deruyck Foundation, which organized trot racing at the hippodrome for many years, until 2015.

cerebral infarction

In 2014, when Van den Broecke was 79, he suffered a cerebral infarction in the summer. But the plucky lawyer got back on his feet and, on his 80th birthday, was able to experience the last edition in the previous infrastructure and thus also experience the new construction, with the Hippologgia. Joseph van de Broecke passed away on Tuesday afternoon.
