Limburg and Brabant entrepreneurs who suffered a significant loss of turnover due to the high water last summer can apply for a special compensation scheme. The affected entrepreneurs can submit an application for this in the period from 24 October to 5 December 2022. The scheme applies to loss of turnover in the third and fourth quarters of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022. payment of € 24 million has been granted in order to be able to realize this compensation.
Minister Micky Adriaansens (Economic Affairs and Climate): “Entrepreneurs have been hit hard by the high water. Many businesses and retail properties have suffered damage. In the period after the flooding, entrepreneurs have shown a lot of resilience and have resumed their business operations as much as possible. This compensation for the loss of turnover gives them a boost.”
Deputy Stephan Satijn (Economics, Education and Land Management): “In the autumn of 2021, the cabinet introduced the Disaster Compensation Act for material damage. However, this law does not provide for the loss of turnover incurred by entrepreneurs as a result of the high water. Together with the various Limburg interest groups and the affected municipalities, we have urged the government to implement a scheme that partially compensates for the loss of turnover of severely affected entrepreneurs. We are pleased to now be able to present a scheme that provides this.”
In July 2021, parts of Limburg and North Brabant were affected by high water.
The official name of the scheme is ‘Further subsidy rules for loss of turnover due to flooding due to fresh and run-off water in July 2021 in Limburg and North Brabant.
