$1,000 goes out of Patrik Laine’s account every time he scores a point.
Columbus Blue Jackets star forward Patrick Laine promises to make the rounds in his NHL games this season. The Finn confirmed on the team’s website that for every point he scores, $1,000 goes from the puck player’s own pocket to charity.
The target is the Community Shelter Board (CSB), which provides supplies to homeless families in Columbus. CBS’ goal is that all residents of the area have a place to call home.
– Family homelessness is one of the biggest problems in our community. I am proud to support CSB and the important work they do for the people of Columbus, Laine said in the release.
– I’m really lucky to be able to do what I love in a place like Columbus. Giving back to families in need is important to me.
In the summer, Laine signed a four-year, $34.8 million contract extension with the Blue Jackets.
It is expected that Laine will raise quite a sum for charity. In previous seasons, Maaltikki has scored an average of 50–60 power points per season. For this season, Laine was joined by a star forward who had a 100-point season in the Calgary Flames Johnny Gaudreau.
