The Emma gala will have new categories next year.
The 2022 Emma gala will take place next February at the Helsinki Ice Hall. The music industry’s biggest gala will have two new categories.
The categories are musician of the year and alternative of the year. Especially the music maker category has been wanted for a long time.

One of those hoping for the category has won eight Emmas in his career Behm.
– I’m just really sad and disappointed that there wasn’t a separate category for songwriters this year either, Behm wrote on Instagram a year ago.
He emphasizes that he does not mean artists who make their songs themselves, but professionals who only make compositions and lyrics for their work.
– Composers and lyricists are the backbone of the entire industry and, frankly, many artists and producers would be on weaker ice, so to speak, without this professional group (even unemployed), Behm continues.

The Emma candidates will be announced in December.
Due to the corona restrictions, the previous Emma gala was only held in May. The most uprights, i.e. six, were grabbed by Blind Channel.
