The French refuel en masse with us in the border region: “Supply quiet due to action”
The promotion at TotalEnergies started more than a week ago. Workers blocked the warehouse because they want more pay. As a result, the supply of many French petrol stations is at risk.
“30% of Northern France gas stations in trouble”
In northern France, 30% of gas stations are experiencing problems, according to French media. In the region it is even temporarily forbidden to buy fuel in jerry cans. For example, the French government wants to do something about the massive influx at French gas stations.
The TotalEnergies site in Dunkirk is one of the largest depots in Europe with around sixty tanks.
Forced to refuel across the border
French motorists are therefore forced to drive across the border to refuel. At some petrol stations, including in Adinkerke and Menen, a striking number of vehicles with French number plates are queuing up.
“Twice as much than usual,” says an operator of a gas station in Menen. The French say that in their own country it is sometimes up to 4 hours to wait at the gas station.
