The mass escape occurred moments after an armed attack on police officers
A total of 145 inmates have managed to escape from a women’s prison in Cabaret, 26 kilometers from the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. The escape -of 145 prisoners out of a total of 230- was recorded last Thursday, September 22, minutes after an armed attack on police officers took placeas the Haitian portal Le Facteur Haiti has learned.
Among the prisoners who escaped, three were arrested again by the Haitian National Police (HNP), hours after they fled, for which they have returned to prison. In this sense, the Free Haiti portal has confirmed that 143 prisoners are still fugitives.
The authorities have not yet opened an investigation to determine the causes of the event, as Le Facteur Haiti has learned.
