Federal agency presents labor market statistics for January

NUREMBERG (dpa-AFX) – The Federal Employment Agency presented its January statistics on Tuesday (10 a.m.). Traditionally, the labor market starts sluggishly after the turn of the year. Experts therefore expect a larger number of unemployed than in December, when 2.33 million were looking for a job nationwide.

However, economists also assume that the number will be lower than in January 2021. At that time there was a partial lockdown in Germany. Significantly more companies had closed or had to resort to short-time work.

The Federal Agency also wants to look back on the 2021 training year. The subsequent placement of applicants for an apprenticeship who had not yet found a job by the end of the school year in September officially ran until the end of the year. Basically, there are significantly more open training positions available than applicants./dm/DP/stk
