And it’s over again: At the weekend, Lollapalooza Berlin took to the stages in and around the Olympic Stadium. After acts like Kraftklub, AnnenMayKantereit and Machine Gun Kelly fired up the audience on Saturday, well-deserved greats like Seeed, Die Fantastischen Vier, Casper and Joy Denalane followed on Saturday. Peaceful to the end – and sometimes even sunny
Late summer is back, just in time for the start of the second day of the festival, giving Lollapalooza visitors plenty of sunshine. In the afternoon, the fans in front of the two main stages look forward to the shows by Montez, Drangsal and Anne-Marie, all of whom know how to inspire their audience. Anne-Marie in particular impresses her big and small viewers with her open-minded and approachable manner.
A small drop of bitterness remains, because Clairo has to cancel her performance at short notice due to health problems. Unfortunately, there was no communication at first, and so the only thing left for those waiting was the view of the empty stage, from which everything is gradually being dismantled. Loredana prepares the stage for Casper, who is celebrating his 40th birthday on this day and is greeted by his fans with a birthday song. The already well-known flower meadow stage set still causes ecstasy at the last festival of the year and after a really nice gig it’s fire free for the Fantastischen Vier.
The guys from Stuttgart have been in the hip-hop game for more than 35 years and haven’t lost any of their charisma since then. Hits old and new alike ignite and it’s a real joy to see the Lollapalooza partying with nods. However, the fantastic Joy Denalane is also playing on the Alternative Stage at the same time. Unfortunately, that’s not the only overlap of the day, performances by Alice Merton, Badmomzjay and last but not least Nina Chiba could have been better attended. Only the Perry Stage in the stadium remains in constant EDM hands, with Lexy&K-Paul, Imanbek, Timmy Trumpet and Tiesto performing here, among others.
Festival finale with Seeed
The grand finale is played by Seeed, who win over the audience in no time at all and deliver a great show. Hit singles like “Schwarz zu Blau” and “Dickes B” are twice as effective in Berlin as in the rest of the country, and the outstanding musicians are sometimes even supported by breakdancers. Finally, at 10:15 p.m., the Lollapalooza Festival 2022 ends. Nothing special happened: the organizers explicitly praised the peaceful atmosphere and the exemplary audience. The colorful mix of visitors may contribute a lot, the spatial separation of the EDM Stage and the Kidzapalooza from the infield also brings together what belongs together. The respectful treatment of the fans and the participants as well as the mostly transparent communication of the organizer contribute to the Lollapalooza living up to its reputation as a friendly festival again in 2022. Even if, after the cancellations of Rage Against The Machine and Miley Cyrus, who were supposed to perform at Lollapalooza Berlin 2022, which was finally postponed due to Corona, some voices were raised that the line-up this year was by no means as compatible as it was, at least internationally in his past.
