Big announcement is imminent

It rattles in the box at Depeche Mode. The synth-pop pioneers have scheduled a press conference in Berlin for October 4, 2022 – and promise a big announcement.

Well then, yes! It was suspected a few days ago that Depeche Mode might have planned a press conference in Berlin for the beginning of October. At the time, an unofficial fan site said the band wanted to use this opportunity to announce a new album and a world tour.

Shortly thereafter came the supposed denial: “Sirius XM” employee Richard Blade reported that he asked the group about this, but they replied: “Richard, we didn’t release it”. What was initially dismissed as fake news is now apparently true: A press conference on October 4, 2022 will now officially take place.

Tour, album — or both?

It is not known what the press conference is supposed to be about – the invitation only mentions an announcement of the band’s plans. It remains to be seen whether this refers to the official announcement of the successor to the 2017 album “Spirit”. But it can be assumed that with such an official invitation (and a Berlin date) something bigger is pending than just the announcement of a re-release from the back catalogue. That at least the dates for a world tour will be announced seems quite realistic.
